In many systems, you may be uncertain about some of the input parameters. In such a case, GoldSim allows you to define these parameters as probability distributions. If at least one of the inputs to a model is a probability distribution, by definition, the outputs are probability distributions. (Basic concepts of probabilistic simulation are provided in Appendix A of the GoldSim User’s Guide.) Distribution results provide a way to view the final values of uncertain (probabilistic) outputs.
The summary display for a distribution result (the default display for an interactive result) combines graphical and tabular information, and looks like this:
The chart display for a distribution expands the small chart provided in the upper right-hand corner of the summary display shown above.
Note that distribution charts can be viewed as probability density functions (PDFs), cumulative distribution functions (CDFs), or complementary cumulative distribution functions (CCDFs).
